(No idea what's going with this box!)

How much 'power' does the president really wield in the church? And how much power does the VP wield? Why is it that I heard nothing about Wilson till his election? And with the 'people on the ground' theoretically (though not in reality) making decisions during Sessions, what does the president's role mean for us right now?

Good question.....honestly, I don't think much power...and VP?  even less....  I never heard that he was the VP before he became the Pres.  If that is really true, well, it wouldn't be a good sign....

love the box Thandi and I don't know how it got there either....LOL  makes life interesting....

too soon to tell if this new fellow will do anything...  what he said in his speech sounded very hopeful but saying and doing are miles apart sometimes...  personal experience on that one...  My hope is that he will be good for the church as we come closer to the coming of our Lord.

Me too Newbie. You find all types on Facebook. Just because we said we appreciated the sermon, all of a sudden people started mentioning his father, Folkenberg etc. It's as if people assume we're 'dumb' enough to believe that there'll be huge reformation, when the point was that "At last we heard a proper sermon coming from 'above' as opposed to the type of stuff we've read that Jan Paulsen said." They started attacking the church, the GC etc. It was crazy. Even if he was truly reform-minded, how much power would he have? I don't see him singlehandedly changing the hospitals, our schools etc. We just appreciated his sermon. As for the rest, we'll see...

It was an encouraging sermon...

Tammy, the  power that the new President will wield in the power of the Holy Spirit that will work through him as he preaches in that power around the world. There is great power in example and Pastor Wilson has already exercised that power which is having an early effect. I trust that we will pray for him rather that look askance at him because his father might have made a negative statement or had some fault. Give glory to God for causing the delegates to at least vote in a fearless conservative. He will surely be better that our recent past week kneed presidents.

Thandi, we don't have to be "dumb" to believe that a Reformation is coming to the Church; we only have to believe the SOP. Accompanying that Reformation will be many shaken out of the Church as they give up the faith, and others will come in as a result of the reformation under the Latter Rain.

Robert,
I'm not looking forward to the shaking but I know it must come to purify God's church.  There will be some that will be shaken and leave those that are faithful to the message of truth.  It will be those that we were friends with and we trusted them at one time I'm sure.  It will hurt deeply to see them take a different stance.
I believe we are just on the edge of this......  hang on for dear life and keep your eyes up looking unto Jesus for guidance and direction.  Only the wise will discern the truth and that wisdom comes from above.

Yes, dear Newbie. We must pray for ourselves and each other and all of our loved ones. Happy are we if our minds are single to the glory of God. May you have a happy Sabbat.

Robert

So many people have complained that he's taking us backwards, not forward. I quite like the old-time religion!
